Mixed Media

Hello Friends, Followers, Viewers and Visitors on this rainy Friday morning.
On the East Coast we are preparing and bracing ourselves for hurricane Joaquin.  I'm hoping it will turn more to the right in the Atlantic Ocean and not hug the coastline as predicted.
It has been a lot in the media about this storm.  One weather man is saying one thing.  When you change channels and listen to someone else, we are hearing something different. The news on the internet as well as radio announcers are all reporting something different.  This is how I came up with the title to go along with my cards today.
With  the mixed reviews, we are confused with what the media is reporting.  The reason for staying up-to-date on when and where Joaquin will land is because my daughter has to make it back to Florida.  She is leaving us on Saturday morning to spend the day with her sister in North Carolina and then her flight leaves early on Sunday morning.  I have enjoyed each moment we've  had her with us.  We're praying that the high winds and rain will not be a problem for her getting back to NC.  We're staying tuned to the weather channel and the local news to see if the media will get on track or continue to give us mixed reviews.
My share for today was done from showing my daughter how I use Ranger distress inks and Ken Oliver's Color Burst.  She wanted to see what was the difference and why I had to have both..(teachable lesson):
This card (WISH) was made using Ranger distress inks (fossilized amber, cracked pistachio, and tea dye) on a watercolor piece of paper. Gesso was also used with a stencil and after drying it was painted over with distress ink. Ranger dylusions stamp  was used for the flowers.  "WISH was stamped using Fiskars' Make a Wish Quotes stamp.  A white Recollection card base with a mint green mat was used under the water colored paper.

You will also see this card at WordArtWednesday.blogspot.com for their challenge#203
"Special Thoughts of You, was made using a piece of Ranger watercolor paper and Ken's Oliver's Ultramarine Blue, Orange and Lemon Yellow Color Burst powder along with spritzed water.  Ranger dylusions stencil (vine) was used with Hampton Art white ink.  This was the second step to this project. The sentiment was from some I had in my stash.  I just used a circle punch to cut it out.  A white Recollection card base was used with a blue and white mat behind the water colored paper.

My daughter could tell that the color burst was more vibrant than the distress inks. Can you tell the difference by looking at these cards or are you having a mixed reaction?
Have a great day/ and or weekend.

Sending you a hug and LOVE
Lois
