"Going For The Gold"

It's Friday, August 18, 2017.
My friends, followers, visitors and viewers, we made it to the end of another work week.  I have some peers in the education field that went back to work last week.  Some are getting ready for the opening of the 2017-2018 school year while others greeted their little ones and big ones on  Tuesday.  "Sunshine" will be going back on August 22, 2017.  The summer is really over and we are actually getting ready for the fall.
I played around with some gold cardstock this morning.  Friday is my busiest day of the week so I was going for the gold in creating a card in less than thirty minutes.  I accomplished my task.  I finished the first one and also did a second (only because I had the supplies on my desk).

I'm using this card "JOY" for an entry at
http://www.wordartwednesday.blogspot.com  Challenge #296-#297 - Anything Goes
It is cardstock in the "gold metallic family (Neenah metallic...you can pick it up at Walmart). The bow is a Jolee's boutique brand and the little sign has letters from a Sticko sticker pack.  I did use a Lawn Fawn border die to cut down the top gold piece.  Two embossing folders were used (Spellbinders M-Boss abilities EL-014 and Darice snowflake).  I used NUVO "golden sunset" crystal drops in the middle of the snowflakes.

I used another fancy fold tutorial from Pinterest to make this card along with  paper from Hunkydory "A Very Merry Christmas".  I've presented all the views from different angles.
If you type in "Z Fold Card With A Twist"  you will find a tutorial on how to make this one.  Using the paper made this one quite easy.  After cutting the cardstock and folding it.  I cut pieces of the paper to put on all five sides...very easy to do.
I'm not sure it is going to be this easy if I do not use paper that has an image on it.  I'm giving it a try somewhere in the future.

After two weeks of holiday cards, I'm going back to something else starting next week.  Sometimes doing the same thing over and over gets a little boring for me.  I'll be back to making holiday cards later.  I need a change of pace.

Thanks for visiting and posting lovely comments all week.
Take care of yourselves and enjoy the moment, the weekend, the day or just the minute.

Sending you a hug and LOVE,
Lois

"Cozy Warm And Bright Christmas"

Happy Tuesday, August 15, 2017.
Hello to all my friends, followers, visitors and viewers.
Toady is the second workday for this week not unless you went to work on the weekend or started your work week on Sunday.  Nevertheless, we are here sharing and interacting with one another.

The National Day Calendar for today reports that it is NATIONAL RELAXATION DAY and NATIONAL LEMON MERINGUE PIE DAY.
Here is the reason for celebrating:
"National Relaxation Day is  time to slow down, unwind and relax!
It is an important day as we all need a break from the fast-paced and often hectic lifestyles we live. Taking time to recuperate and rejuvenate our tired minds and bodies may help prevent many health risks.  Like the founder of this day suggested, too much work can make us sick, run down, tired and that’s just wrong.
Are you hungry? Pie lovers and lemon lovers from across the country get your forks ready. August 15th is National Lemon Meringue Pie Day."

I'm going to have a hard time trying to celebrate both of these.  My weekend was very relaxing as well as yesterday so I'm going to do something that needs to be done today.  It will not be stressful and my body will not get tired.  I have to skip the pie because I'm working on keeping my glucose level in the normal range.  My LAB report last week shows my A1C at a reasonable level and I want to keep it that way.  To work on being healthy can be challenging when certain foods are presented to you.  I see it but I have resistance to stay away from so many sweet treats.

I hope you are not tired of the holiday cards I have been making.  I'm considering making something different tomorrow but don't hold me to that consideration.  If I have an idea in my mind. I have to get it out and onto paper before it goes away.
This one will also be seen at http://www.wordartwednesday.blogspot.com  and

"PEACE"

Hello friends, followers, viewers and visitors.
It's Monday, August 14, 2017.
We survived the weekend and we are back to doing activities today.  It's a blessing to be on this side to continue to love and bless others.

We didn't have very good news in our state of Virginia this weekend.  Many of you saw or heard the news in reference to Charlottesville, Virginia.  At least three people  died in relation to the demonstrations in Charlottesville, Virginia over the weekend.  Hundreds of white nationalists, some wielding torches, gathered at the University of Virginia ahead of Saturday's larger rally. Their chants included phrases such as "white lives matter," "you will not replace us," and the Nazi-associated phrase "blood and soil." The mayor of Charlottesville called it a "cowardly parade of hatred, bigotry, racism, and intolerance."

How much longer will our nation continue to tolerate this kind of hatred, bigotry, racism and intolerance?   It appears as if it is not getting better but worse each and every day.

So, today in connection with working on holiday cards for 2017, I specifically gave this card the title, "Peace".  We need to come together as a nation and put an end to the hatred, bigotry, racism and intolerance in our country and abroad.

"Christmas Greetings In August"

Good Friday, August 11, 2017 to all my friends, followers, visitors and viewers.
A very rainy morning outside my window.   I don't have to venture out today.  Most of my appointments were earlier this week.
Since Friday's are always the busiest time of the week for me, I usually craft from my stash.  Today I used cardstock from my stash but I had to use the die cutting machine to create the card .  Therefore, I can't say it is "what's in my stash Friday".  It is half and half (lol).

The focal cardstock came from my stash.  It had been heat emboss using a stencil and white embossing powder.  I  used some distress inks (abandoned coral and ripe persimmon) and applied a little to each corner.   The dies for the flowers were Elizabeth Craft designs "Victorian Flower Overlay Set 2; Darice "Holly Border"; and Sizzix "Garden Greens".  The die I used for the sentiment came from Cottage Cutz "Christmas Greetings".  For my embellishment, I used two Recollections Dimensional Sticker (poinsettia).
This is my holiday card #4 for this week.

Hope you enjoyed your view.
Thanks for expressing your support by leaving a comment.  They have been wonderful to read.

Sending you a hug and LOVE,
Lois

"Holiday Card #2"

Hello friends, followers, visitors and viewers.
Happy Wednesday, August 9, 2017 to you.
I have worked on another holiday card for your viewing today.
I didn't intend for the color to be similar to the one I did on Monday but it just happened that way.  When you have someone who say to you, "I want one in that color also"...what do you do?
I tried a different die and different paper but the color scheme is somewhat similar to Monday's card.
This will be added to WordArtWednesday blog challenge:

Here are some of the items I used: Sizzix Holiday Greens; Spellbinders Cascading Grace die; Ranger Liquid Pearls in "Robin Egg Blue"; Petaloo Mixed Textured Layers in Teal;

Thanks for viewing.
Come again.
I enjoy your comment.

"Fun-Day Friday From My Stash"

Hello everyone.
It's Friday and you know what that means for me.
I pick from my stash things that may or may not end up in the trash one day.  I keep them for a while and when items start falling out or I get tired of looking at the overflow they are donated to my garbage.
When you peer at the focal image you will remember something similar to this that was done on Thursday, July 6, 2017 on this blog:  http://lilartsywoman.blogspot.com/2017/07/i-created-background-using-distress.html.
This card front was left over from that experiment.
Today, I added some stamping to the front, some dimensional flower stickers, a poppy stamp die, another water colored piece with a sentiment from Kaisercraft stamp.

Some of the items used: pink, green blue, purple distress inks; water color black ink; white gel pen; Kaisercraft "lilac whisper" clear stamp; Poppy Stamp "River Faerie" die; Recollections dimensional flower stickers; NUVO crystal glaze

"Hold On To Hope"

Hello friends, followers, visitors and viewers.
Today is Thursday, August 3, 2017.  How happy are you?
Some of you are happy because tomorrow will mark the last workday for the week.
Some of you are happy because you have a mini vacation down in Orlando, Florida (family members).
Some of you are happy because it is getting closer to the first day of school and your children can get back to learning new and exciting information.  Yes, it is that time of the year for college, high school and elementary school children to get away from the beach and back to the books.
Do you have hope?
You may be wondering...hope in what?
Hope is the cord that connects us to God, the very thing that enables God to work in our lives. Hope goes beyond wishing; hope is believing, expecting, anticipating a reality yet to come.
  • Hope heals. Hope enables you to develop spiritual muscles to combat whatever comes your way. “Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength” (Isaiah 41:2). “Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the LORD” (Psalm 31:24).
  • Hope anchors your faith. “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we don’t see” (Hebrews 11:1). Raise your eyes above everyday woes and look to your Divine Helper
  • Hope is a gift from God. “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord. ‘Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future’” (Jeremiah 29:11).Claim God’s promise of hope…today.

"Cards For Little Hearts"

Wednesday, Wednesday!!!
Welcome friends, followers, visitors and viewers.  We are here and we are thankful we made it over.  The weekend is in the future...can't you see it...can't you feel it.
I've been busy behind the scene doing something for a friend I met on Google+.  I've created some cards for her  second card drive.  Her name is Christina Hor and you can read all about the drive and what it will accomplish here ... http://www.christinahordesigns.com/p/hug-heart.html

Here is my donation:

I took out some of the cards to showcase an example of what they will look like.

This one will not be included in the package.

Thanks for viewing.  Go to Christina's blog and check out the information for the card drive.  I'm sure you will be able to donate a card or two before the deadline.

Sending you a hug and LOVE,
Lois

"Altenew Lacy Scrolls Stamp And Die"

Hello friends, followers, visitors and viewers.
Welcome to the first day of August.
I'm very thankful to see the beginning of this month, day and time.  It's rolling along without my help.  That is just one more thing I don't have to be concerned about.  It is going to happen without me and I really like it.
One other thing that I'm liking/loving at this moment is YOU.   I'm thankful for you everyday.
I made a card for your viewing and for my give away to the soldiers:

entry for  Challenge #292- #293 - Anything Goes

  • Ranger coral liquid pearls
  • Ranger abandoned coral and peeled paint distress ink
  • black Recollection cardstock; Neenah white cardstock; Heartfelt Creations Botanic Orchid cardstock
Thankful for you everyday.  You do so much and more than you realize.  A kind word, a telephone conversation, an unexpected gift, a drive down the highway, a pat on the back, etc.  All of those  things are AMAZING.

Have a good day my friends.  Come again and leave a comment before you leave.  I always enjoy hearing and knowing you were around.
